5TH GRADE SUMMER READING BOOKS:
WONDER , by R. J. Palacio
ISLAND OF THE BLUE DOLPHINS, by Scott O'Dell
Summarize what you have read. Write one summary on the beginning of the book, one summary on the middle of the book and summarize the ending of the book. Then write a brief summary of how you felt about the story and whether or not you liked it and would recommend it to others. All notes will be checked in the first week back to school in September. Your notes will be checked, but remember these are your personal notes and their purpose is to refresh your memory for tests and discussions which will take place in the Fall. YOU MAY USE THESE NOTES IN THE TEST.
Remember: You will be taking a test on WONDER OR ISLAND OF BLUE DOLPHINS so make sure your notes are clear and you include all the details, because this will help you to remember all the important events from the book. We will review the book in the first week of September. A test or project will follow .
Remember: It is important to read throughout the summer, so your reading skills remain strong. You should read at least two or three additional books. Try to read some of your personal choice books or choose from the list below.
